How to backup your data in DentalDesktop 1.7.83.X and lower
09/11/2023
Please be informed that although DentalDesktop 1.7.83.0 and earlier versions are still used by some 3Shape customers, this software version will reach it's End-Of-Life stage in 2027. Please ensure that customers’ systems are updated to the latest available version.
If you need to save all Unite data (such as user cases, settings, and operators) for recovery after data loss or system failure, you can create a backup using the Backup & Restore tool. This feature is available in all software versions starting from 3DD 1.7.19.1.
Before doing a backup, ensure the following:
The same dongle must be used during backup and restore.
TRIOS streams are not included in the Backup & Restore tool. They must be backed up separately on each client computer where scanning occurs.
All cases must be post-processed or sent before backup. If any cases are not post-processed or sent, manually copy the TRIOS streams folder from C:\ProgramData\3Shape\DentalDesktop\ThreeShape.TRIOS\ to your backup location.
How to do a backup from the software
Step 1: Open Unite and click on the More tab and select Settings in the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Select General and then Backup & Restore.
Step 2: Select Backup and choose the desired backup location, then click Save.
Step 3: A pop-up will appear; select Yes.
Step 5: Unite will automatically restart and the .3ddbackup file will be saved in the location selected. Verify that the file size of the backup created matches the file size of the information stored on the system. If there is an inconsistency, this might generate an error message when attempting to restore it.
For full information on correct the usage, consult the official Safety and Setup Guide and the most current Manual.
