Product catalog overview

21/10/2024

There are several categories that you should familiarize yourself with before beginning entry of your product catalog into 3Shape LMS.  Here is an overview:

Type  - Refers to whether a restoration is a crown, bridge, removable, abutment, aligner, etc. (or any Additional Products you've enter). See the full list of Type options when you add an item to your product catalog.

Material (families) - Refers to the subcategories Items are organized under in case entry, and are equivalent to the Material Family in 3Shape Dental System. This subcategory does not appear on invoices or pricelists.

Item - The specific item you are manufacturing; this is the product name that appears on the invoice

**For example, “Colbalt Chrome" you might a full metal crown or a PFM---the names of the products you offer (the item names print on invoices and pricelists, so name them accordingly)

Additional Product - These items typically don't require a tooth number or arch; might not be ordered as a stand alone item; aren't a restoration, aren't counted as a production “unit”

Examples:

  • Custom shade charges
  • Additional teeth on a removables repair
  • Equipment lease
  • CE Courses
  • Bands for appliances

*Additional products need to be “shipped” just like any other item

Alloys - After entering in Materials Management, you can assign alloys (and other materials) to restorations, so that an extra billing line item will be added automatically
