How long can TRIOS Streams/Scans be edited?
09/11/2023What is a Stream?
A stream is the information collected and taken within the scan page, which is generated from the compilation of images taken with the scanner that are put together and form a 3D design which can be edited.
Additional information about Streams:
- Streams cannot be exported manually.
- They cannot be sent to the lab without being post-processed.
- Streams are editable.
- They cannot be exported in 3.oxz format without being post-processed.
- HD photo and cropping options can be used.
What is a Scan?
A scan is the file that is generated post-processing a case, which corrects the missing information taken with the scanner and generates a single 3D file that can be sent or exported in different formats.
Additional information about Scans:
- Scans can be exported in STL, DCM and PLY formats.
- Scans can be exported in 3.oxz format.
- Scans can be sent to the lab.
- Scans are visible in the Patient Library page and can be selected and used in new cases.
- Scans can be imported from the "Order Form" in the "Import Scans" option into a new case without the need to scan a patient.
Procedures of streams cleanup
- Automatic cleanup will be executed:
- For all POSTPROCESSED cases older than 45 days;
- For all NON-POSTPROCESSED older than 90 days;
- For POSTPROCESSED cases created earlier than 45 days ago if there is less than 15 GB of free space on the system drive (starting from the oldest case and till the latest one until there is enough free space).
- Manual cleanup window activates on the Scanning page when disk goes below 15 GB of free space and automatic cleanup was unable to free up enough space:

- It will delete STREAMS only.
- This window will give the user the option to delete recovery data (streams), older than 1-3 weeks.
- The oldest streams to preserve can be chosen up to 2 months back (if the free disc space allows it).
Protection from cleanup
Certain orders, such as complex or long cases that may need revisiting, can be saved from the automatic cleanup using "Protect from cleanup" option, which can be found in the cases options or on the scan page. The raw data (scan streams) will eventually be post-processed to free up system resources, however, you will still have access to the final 3D model in the patient library to print, export or resend, but not edit.

Protection from cleanup will not protect the orders from manual cleanup.
