Understanding the New Cloud and Local Storage Settings for Unite 24.1
17/04/2024Unite 24.1 introduces a redesigned storage system that gives you more control over where your data lives and how it moves between devices. Cloud Storage is enabled by default, giving users peace of mind knowing their data is safely backed up. For users who prefer more control over where their data lives, local storage options are also available.
These options are available at the new storage settings menu accessible by:
Step 1: Navigating to the More tab.
Step 2: Select Settings in the drop down menu.
Step 3: Expand the Storage management section and select cloud and advanced storage.

Note: Only users with Windows and company admin rights can configure these settings. Since changes may affect the entire company setup, 3Shape Unite will need to restart for any modifications to take effect.
Cloud storage
When you update to 3Shape Unite 24.1 and accept the user agreement, all your TRIOS and patient data, along with your licenses, will be uploaded to your 3Shape Account company's cloud storage. You can check your available cloud storage at any time in Settings, and you can enable or disable data synchronization with your company's cloud storage from there as well. We recommend keeping synchronization enabled so you can fully take advantage of the benefits it offers.
Local storage
If you'd prefer to continue storing data locally, you can configure an existing server PC, or any other PC, to function as a local storage hub using the "Use this device as local storage" setting. Before setting this up, make sure the device has sufficient disk space available.
Sync options
If you disable cloud storage, or simply want your data shared across devices over the local network, choose "Sync between devices." If several devices are acting as local storage, you can assign one PC as your primary storage so that all data synchronization is managed through it.
Note: Any data deleted from the network will also be deleted from the local storage device.
Data backup
You can manually back up your 3Shape Unite data to an external hard disk or USB drive using "Export data to drive." To start the process, select a location for the backup file, and the software will notify you once it's complete or if any issues occur. You can also import backup data, and 3Shape Unite will synchronize it with your device data.
Note: Before proceeding with either of these actions, click the info button to learn more about the process.
If you want to stop using a device and permanently remove it from the network, use "Stop using this device" to synchronize its data to the cloud or to other devices currently online in the network. While 3Shape Unite synchronizes data automatically, this gives you an additional way to make sure all data is safely transferred and synchronized across the other devices in your network.
