This article describes the possibilities for software upgrades, hardware support, and PC purchases for old lab scanner models.
The information below applies to:
- D200 and D250 scanners
- D640 scanners
- D700 scanners with serial number = Cxxxxxxxx
- D710 scanners with serial number = Dxxxxxxxx
- D700 scanners with serial number = Hxxxxxxxx
- R700 scanners with serial number = Sxxxxxxxx
- D710 scanners with serial number = Ixxxxxxxx
- D800 scanners
- D810 scanners
- R500 scanners
- D500 scanners
R700 scanners with S/N = Sxxxxxxx are all MKII scanners, and the support policy is the same as for D700 MKII and D710 MKII.

Hardware Support Possibilities
Can Old Scanners Be Repaired?
No. Repair of the old scanner models is not possible.
If a hardware issue that cannot be fixed remotely is confirmed by 3Shape Support, contact your reseller/provider, a 3Shape Sales Manager, or to inquire about scanner trade-up possibilities.
Can I Purchase a New PC for My Old Scanner from 3Shape?
3Shape no longer offers PCs compatible with old scanner models.
The customer should either:
- Purchase a new PC from an alternative PC vendor according to the requirements below.
- Upgrade the scanner to a newer model to be able to purchase a new PC from 3Shape.
