Network scanning for F8 model

Network scanning is implemented in SID 2.2.4.0, which is required with ScanSuite 13.5.0 and Unite 1.7.82.4. It works the same way as when the scanner is locally connected, but the F8 scanner can now be shared between multiple ScanServer instances within the network.

General Requirements

• Latest 3Shape Lab Scanner software, ScanServer version 13.5.0 or higher
• F8 scanner
• Working network connection between the computer and the scanner

Bandwidth Requirements for Network Scanning

The following bandwidth requirements apply:

• Minimum requirement for being able to use all the workflows without problems
• Recommended bandwidth for being able to utilize the full power of the scanner

Network Ports

The following TCP and UDP ports must be open to use the scanner:

Network Configuration

The following network configurations may be required:

• Make sure mDNS is enabled for scanner discovery.
• Disable traffic redirection, such as that performed by Captive Portals.
• Disable Multicast Enhancement.
• Disable Multicast and Broadcast Control.
• Permit bi-directional traffic between the scanner and the scanning PC.

How to Use Network Scanning

Step 1: Connect the scanner to an Ethernet wall socket or router. Turn on the scanner.

Step 2: Run ScanServer on the PC that will control the scanner.

Step 3: Connect ScanServer to the scanner.

Step 4: In the "Scanners" menu, select the F8 network scanner marked with the corresponding icon.

Optionally, you can change the scanner name for easier identification when using several scanners on the same network.

Update the scanner firmware using the 3Shape Lab Scanner software when prompted automatically by ScanServer.

Step 5: Run SID and connect to the ScanServer that is connected to the network scanner. This does not necessarily have to be the local PC.

Step 6: The network scanner is now available for scanning.
