Hollowing possibilities in Model Builder

In Dental System the digital models can be hollowed to save the material cost needed to produce the model. 

To create a model with hollowing do these actions:

1. Open Model Builder and press icon to activate Virtual Trimming Settings.

     2. Choose Model Manufacture section.

     3. Activate Hollowing option.

     4. Choose surface thickness, which will contain the model.

There are several variants of Hollowing in Model Builder:

1. Solid model (not hollowed):

• Open Virtual Trimming Settings à
• Hollow model: unchecked.

    2. Hollow models with open bottom:

• Open Virtual Trimming Settings à
• Hollow model: checked;
• Surface Thickness > 0 (e.g. 1.5 mm);
• Use variable thickness: unchecked;
• Bottom drain hole size > 0 (e.g. 10 mm)

    3. Hollow model with opened bottom, a bottom grid and wall thickening to the teeth:

• Open Virtual Trimming Settings à
• Hollow model: checked;
• Surface thickness > 0 (e.g. 1,5 mm);
• Use variable thickness: checked;
• Bottom drain hole size > 0 (e.g. 10 mm).

   4. Hollow model with opened bottom without bottom grid:

• Open Virtual Trimming settings à
• Hollow model: checked;
• Surface thickness > 0;
• Use variable thickness: checked;
• Bottom drain hole size = 0.

    5. Models with an internal hole:

• Open Virtual Trimming settings à
• Hollow model: checked;
• Surface thickness > 0;
• Use variable thickness: unchecked;
• Bottom drain hole size = 0;
• The purpose is to save resin of 3d printer which prints in this kind stereolithography (model is lifting out of resin).
