What privacy standards does 3Shape follow?

EU GDPR

3Shape is a global company, however both our headquarters and the factory where we manufacture our scanners are located in the European Union, therefore EU GDPR is absolutely our most important privacy standard and we use it as a basis in the entire 3Shape group.

US HIPAA

To meet the expectations of our customers in the US, 3Shape is also HIPAA compliant, which precisely regulates the requirements for the processing of patient data.

Local privacy laws

While operating in accordance with the above two privacy standards, 3Shape is sure that it takes the utmost care to protect personal data, however, in some cases, depending on the needs and circumstances, 3Shape will comply with other local legal requirements to ensure maximum legal compliance of our activities.

Who at 3Shape deals with data protection?

  • 3Shape respects the principles of Privacy by design and Privacy by default, which means that employees in all areas work with the highest privacy standards.
  • The protection is also supervised by the appointed Data Protection Officer (dpo@3Shape.com), as well as the Compliance & Data Protection Team and the IT Security Team responsible for ensuring compliance in this area.
  • All 3Shape employees undergo regular training in both personal data protection and information security.

What personal data is processed by 3Shape?

3Shape offers various products and services, so the scope of personal data that we process varies, but we can present two main groups of personal data:

  • Customer data (dental professionals) these are:
  • identification data (e.g. name and surname, company name, job position),
  • contact details (e.g. business e-mail address, telephone number, company address), 
  • billing data (e.g. tax numbers, bank accounts) etc.

  • Patient data (patients’ of dental professionals) these are:
  • identification data (e.g. name and surname, age, location),
  • health data (e.g. teeth’s scan, medical treatment)
