Resolving "Invalid Boundary" After Placing the Cut-Out Line in Dental Designer

08/11/2023

The following error message may appear after placing the cut-out line and proceeding to the next step in Dental Designer:

"Invalid boundary"

This issue most commonly occurs when designing temporary restorations that require teeth to be removed from the scan.

Affected Dental System versions: Potentially all versions.

Cause

This issue may occur when there is a gap between the teeth and the cut-out line is placed inside the gap. As a result, Dental Designer cannot remove the teeth correctly.

Resolution

Step 1: Position the cut-out line outside the gap between the teeth.

Step 2: Continue to the next step.

Step 3: If scan artifacts remain after the teeth have been removed, open the "Sculpt Gingiva" step.

Step 4: Use the "Remove Artifacts" tool to remove the remaining scan artifacts.
