At 3Shape we are constantly developing and focusing on functionalities that are most sought after by our customers and ensure a safe transfer of patient data.
To assure secure transfer of patient data over network, 3Shape is using different versions of Transport Layer Security (TLS) in Communicate services. Microsoft will end support of the deprecated protocols by October 31st, 2024. These protocols are used by TRIOS Classic systems. In effect, 3Shape must end-of-life these protocols from Communicate services which will result in users not being able to send cases from impacted systems after December 31st, 2024.
General questions about TRIOS Classic end of life and trade-up options.
Which TRIOS systems are affected by this change? How can I recognize if I am using TRIOS Classic software?
This change applies to users using TRIOS Classic software versions 1.4.7.5 and below. TRIOS Classic is what we call the TRIOS Software prior to Dental Desktop and Unite. So, if you are not using Dental Desktop or Unite, you are on TRIOS Classic. Below are a couple of screenshot examples from the software.
Can I still send cases from TRIOS Classic system after October 31st, 2024?
It will be possible to send cases from TRIOS Classic until December 31st, 2024. However, in the period between October 31st and December 31st, you can experience disruptions such as case being stuck in the sending state for a long period or not being sent at all.

How do I upgrade my TRIOS scanner?
First you need to apply for the trade-up by submitting an order to sales@3shape.com and provide details such as promo code, item number of the new scanner, model and serial number of your old scanner as well as the dongle number. The following steps are outlined in the 3Shape TRIOS Trade-up and Trade-in process document (Global, North America).
