Locking Screw Channel Settings in DS 2025
07/08/2025Currently, customers can manually modify screw channel parameters (both straight and angled) in the Dental System. However, when working with providers, who manufacture both the physical components and mill the abutment or crown (e.g. Straumann), any change to screw channel settings can lead to misalignment. This may result in the screw not fitting correctly, potentially compromising the final restoration.
Starting with DS 2025, key screw channel parameters can be locked to ensure proper manufacturing compatibility.
Screw channel locking is now available — and controlled by the Provider.
Currently, the setting “Use screw hole” is already controlled via manufacturer settings. The same locking mechanism is now extended to:
- Vertical screw offset
- Extra drill hole radius
- Angulation point offset
These parameters can now be locked in the Assembly settings section to prevent end-users from accidentally or intentionally modifying values that might result in hardware misfit.
When locked, the parameters are greyed out and cannot be edited by the user.
Why This Matters
This improvement ensures:
- Precision fit between virtual design and physical parts
- Reliability in the final restoration
- Provider control over critical geometry
❌ No risk of improper screw insertion due to unauthorized parameter changes
Especially important when the provider is responsible for both design specs and milling.
