Resolving "Socket Error #11001 Host not found" in Dental System

If Dental System cannot connect to the Dongle Server Service, the following error may appear when opening Dental Manager or Dental System Control Panel:

"No subscription for this application. The dongle is either missing or there is no more application subscription available in the dongle. Please set the 3Shape Dongle Service under System Settings. [Socket Error #11001 Host not found]"

The same troubleshooting steps also apply to the following error:

"Socket Error #10060 Connection timed out"

Cause

This error occurs when Dental System cannot connect to the Dongle Server Service using the current settings.

Troubleshooting

Step 1: Run "Dental System Control Panel" as an administrator.

Step 2: Go to "Subscription Management (Dongle)."

Step 3: Open "Dongle Server Service."

In Dental System versions earlier than 2016, "Dongle Server Service" is located under "System Settings".

Step 4: Verify that the correct PC name or IP address is entered for the computer where the dongle is connected.

Step 5: Click "Test connection."

If the settings are correct, the connection test should complete successfully.

Additional Troubleshooting

If the connection test fails, try the following:

  • Restart the Dongle Server Service on the PC where the dongle is connected.
  • Reinstall the Dongle Server Service.
  • Verify that the dongle and its licenses are detected on the Dongle Server Service status page by opening http://localhost:27027/ in a web browser.
  • Temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus software. If this resolves the issue, ask your IT administrator to configure the security software so it does not block communication with the dongle.
  • Verify that the dongle is properly connected to the PC and that the green LED indicator is on.

The same troubleshooting steps can be applied for the Error Message: "Socket error #10060 Connection timed out" when opening Dental Manager or Dental System Control Panel
