Understanding the occurrence of patient mismatch 

Patients that have been scanned on the same day with the same last name have been miss match when the orders arrive in Ortho Analyzer.

The reason this happens is because the template for patient Id in the Ortho Control Panel is by default set up with only: date, time and last name.

So, in a scenario where two family members or two strangers with the same last name come in to be scanned on the same day, the scans can be swap. 

Preventing patient mismatch in Ortho Analyzer - steps

To prevent this from happening please follow next steps

  1. Open 3Shape Ortho Control Panel
  2. Go to system settings.
  3. Scroll down to Define template for patient-Id generation.
  4. On patient-ID template field 4: click on the drop down menu and add the first name. ( or any additional id shown)

This can also be done if having issues with the model set ID.
