How can I upgrade my TRIOS MOVE+ from Windows 10 to Windows 11

20/08/2025

Microsoft will stop supporting the Windows 10 operating system on October 14, 2025. In the following article, you can learn how to upgrade your TRIOS MOVE+ to Windows 11 starting from September 1st, 2025.

What should I know before I start?

Before upgrading your TRIOS MOVE+ to Windows 11, please make sure the following steps are completed:

  1. Plug in your TRIOS MOVE+: Ensure it stays connected to power throughout the entire upgrade.
  2. Check your internet connection: Make sure your TRIOS MOVE+ has a stable internet connection.
  3. Verify your Windows version: Ensure your system is running Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, version 22H2 (latest version).
    • Not sure how to check? Follow the steps in “How can I check my Windows version?” below.
    • Important: If your system is running Windows 10 Enterprise (non-IoT version), the upgrade will not work. Please reach out to Support, and they will assist you in upgrading to Windows 11.
  4. Verify your UNITE version: Make sure your system is running the latest version of 3Shape UNITE (24.1). This version stores your data safely in the cloud.
    • To confirm your version, see “How can I check my UNITE version?” below.
    • Note: If you are not using UNITE with cloud access, we strongly recommend creating a manual backup before continuing. Instructions can be found in “How can I back up my UNITE data?” below.
  5. Remove any USB devices: Unplug all peripherals (e.g., USB sticks, mouse, keyboard, etc.) before starting the upgrade as some third-party drivers or connected devices can block the process.
  6. Download the update package: download here
  7. Plan sufficient time: The upgrade process takes approximately 2–3 hours, depending on your internet speed. During this time, the scanner cannot be used.

We strictly recommend using this verified Windows 11 upgrade package, available on the link in this article. Attempting any manual upgrade with other Windows 11 installers outside of this package may cause your system to stop working as intended.

If you experience any issues during the upgrade, or if you would like assistance with the process, please reach out to Support.

How can I upgrade to Windows 11?

Step 1: Run the Upgrade File

  1. Go to your Downloads folder (or the folder where you saved the Windows 11 upgrade file) and locate the zipped "Win11Update" folder
  2. Long-press the file, select Extract All…, and follow the on-screen instructions
  3. Open the extracted folder and unblock all Windows Command Script (.cmd) and Windows PowerShell Script (.ps1) files in the downloaded folder by:
Long-press the file  → Properties → Check “Unblock” → Press OK.
  4. Locate 3ShapeWinUpdater.cmd (highlighted in red below)
  5. Long-press the file select Run as administrator.
  6. When prompted, “Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?” → click “Yes”.

Step 2: Automatic Upgrade

  1. The upgrade will now run automatically.
  2. During the upgrade, you will notice:
    • Black screens
    • Restarts
    • Windows update dialogues
    • A blue screen showing “Installing Windows 11”
  3. No action is required from you, the process will complete on its own. When the upgrade is finished, the system will restart automatically. During the first restart, all TRIOS MOVE+ and 3Shape-specific settings will be automatically restored. This ensures your MOVE+ continues to perform optimally, just like before the Windows 11 update.

Step 3: Confirm Upgrade

When the system has restarted, a black dialogue window with a lot of numbers and letters will appear. Press the black dialogue window to activate the keyboard, and then press any button on the keyboard to confirm that the upgrade is complete.

Step 4: All Done!

Your TRIOS MOVE+ is now fully upgraded to Windows 11 and ready for use.

Note: After the installation, you may need to reconnect to your preferred Wi-Fi network. If you have applied any custom settings or configurations on your system, these may be reset during the upgrade and will need to be re-applied afterward. If needed, please contact your local IT partner or reach out to Support for assistance.
