Resolving "Current dongle configuration doesn't allow to save the design" Error

08/11/2023

This error may appear when attempting to save a design in Dental System. Although you can continue designing, it will not be possible to save the design or generate CAM output.

Error message: "Current dongle configuration doesn't allow to save the design"

Cause

This error occurs when the connected dongle does not contain the required subscription or permission to save the current design.

Possible reasons include:

  • The required module or indication is not licensed on the dongle.
  • The selected implant, attachment, or other library requires a dongle option that is not enabled.
  • The dongle configuration has not been updated after a recent license change.

Resolution

Step 1: Verify that the required subscription is available on the dongle.

You can check the active subscriptions in:

  • "Dental System Control Panel" → “Subscription Management (Dongle)”
  • The Dongle Server Service status page by opening http://localhost:27027/ in a web browser.

Step 2: Verify that the required module is available and has not expired.

Step 3: If you are using a Server/Client installation, verify that Client Points are available.

Open the Dongle Server Service status page and compare the "Points in use" and "Points available" sections.

If no Client Points are available, close the same indication on another workstation and try again.

Step 4: If the required subscription or library option is missing, contact your reseller or the corresponding library provider to verify your licensing.

Step 5: If the required license has recently been purchased or updated, contact 3Shape Support to ensure the dongle configuration is updated.
